What Happened at the UVU Event?
Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was speaking at the university as part of his “American Comeback Tour.” Shockingly, during his address, a gunshot rang out.
Videos rapidly circulated on social media showing the immediate aftermath. Kirk can be seen reaching for his neck as a significant volume of blood gushes from the left side. The event descended into panic as the severity of the situation became clear.

He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
The news prompted an immediate and powerful outpouring of grief and anger from prominent conservative figures.
US Vice President JD Vance, who had earlier asked for prayers, now stated, “Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father.” He added a promise of accountability, writing, “Those responsible will be held fully accountable.”
