Massive floods caused by Pakistan’s heavy rainfall have almost completely inundated the famous Gurudwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib in Narowal. The shrine, just 4.5 kilometres from the India-Pakistan border, was surrounded by floodwater, with viral visuals showing only its top structure visible.
Authorities confirmed that India had released excess water from overflowing dams and swollen rivers into low-lying border regions. Before this, New Delhi alerted Islamabad about the possibility of cross-border flooding.

According to officials, nearly two lakh people have been evacuated from flood-prone areas of Pakistan’s Punjab province. Thousands were shifted from Kasur, Bahawalnagar, and other districts after water levels surged in the Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab rivers.

Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said it had issued warnings about rising water in the Sutlej River and directed local authorities to take immediate action. “Rescuers evacuated more than 14,000 people from Kasur, while over 89,000 were moved to safer ground from Bahawalnagar,” the statement said.
