New York City, which is known for its viral trends, has opened its arms to a fresh dating experiment that is making headlines. Rather than swiping on dating apps such as Tinder or Bumble, singles now get to match on a hot pink pedicab.
Called ‘Mingle Mobile’, the quirky service was launched in June by 31-year-old Walker Ward in collaboration with Sharp Entertainment. Ward, once part of Wall Street’s corporate grind, left that world behind to create a cycle rickshaw decked out with roses, pink seats, and a heart-shaped sign asking, “Single?” His idea: to connect strangers walking the streets of New York.

The project has since turned into a reality show titled Pedicab Connections. The format is simple: one single, known as the ‘Hero Rider’, takes a seat in the pedicab. Ward then searches for a potential partner nearby to join them. Once inside, the pair answer lighthearted questions like “Why are you single?” or “Do you feel chemistry?” to break the ice.
To add a dash of fun, Ward also gives out slips containing playful suggestions. In the end, both riders wave a paddle: green for ‘Go’ (swap numbers) or red for ‘Stop’.

Though not every ride sparks romance, some have led to real matches. For example, social media manager Claire Allen didn’t connect with content creator Luke Natale, but Natale later bonded with Justin Washington over their love for Italian food. Casting director Brooklyn Bagwell also found love with tech professional Joe Dacosta.
Sharing her excitement, Bagwell stated that she never got a second date from an app. She described it to be this pedicab date has been the best experience till so far.
Ward’s Mingle Mobile has become a fresh alternative to modern online dating with its spontaneity and charm.
