US President Donald Trump has protested the allegations that he penned a letter to Jeffrey Epstein more than two decades ago that contained a “Donald” signature and a nude woman sketch.
Trump’s denials came after a Wall Street Journal report that said he was among dozens of Epstein’s friends who had been recruited by his then-fixer Ghislaine Maxwell to write a collection of letters she planned to give him in a birthday book.
Alleged Letter Contained Nude Sketch, Signature Placement Questioned
Trump’s letter was filled with several lines of typed writing around what appeared to be a hand-drawn figure of a naked lady, letters obtained by the Journal reported. The outline contained details meant to indicate the woman’s breast, the Journal asserts. Trump’s signature, designed to resemble pubic hair, was drawn over the woman’s waist.
Trump declined to send the letter and make the accompanying photo in a phone interview with the Journal. He called the reporting “a fake thing” and said that he would sue the paper if it it published the story.
Trump Insists He Never Drew or Wrote the Alleged Content
“I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women,” Trump told the tabloid. “It’s not my language. It’s not my words.”
On Tuesday, Trump tweeted that he will sue the Journal, its owner News Corp., and its chairman Rupert Murdoch for publishing what he called a “defamatory” publication.
“The Wall Street Journal, and Rupert Murdoch, personally, were warned directly by President Donald J. Trump that the supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE and, if they print it, they will be sued. Mr. Murdoch stated that he would take care of it but, obviously, did not have the power to do so,” Trump announce on Truth Social.
Vice President JD Vance Defends Trump, Slams WSJ Coverage
Taking to X, Vice President JD Vance blasted the Journal’s coverage as “complete and utter bulls—” and disputed the authenticity of the letter it alleges Trump wrote.
“Where is this letter? Would you be shocked to learn they never showed it to us before publishing it? Does anyone honestly believe this sounds like Donald Trump?” Vance asked.
After his arrest in 2006, Epstein was charged with four counts of lewd and lascivious molestation and illegal sexual activity with a minor. In 2019, he was indicted with federal sex trafficking.
