RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, has intensified her allegations against her brother Tejashwi Yadav and his close associates a day after the party’s poor performance in the Bihar assembly elections. Rohini, who has publicly cut ties with both her family and politics, claimed she was “torn away” from her loved ones and subjected to humiliation.
Rohini Says She Faced Abuse and Attempted Assault
Rohini alleged that she was verbally abused and even faced an attempt of physical assault.
In her emotional post, she wrote, “Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a married woman, a mother was humiliated, filthy abuses were hurled at her, a slipper was raised to hit her. I did not compromise on my self-respect, I did not surrender the truth, and solely because of this, I had to endure this insult.”
She added that the situation forced her to leave her parents and sisters behind. “Yesterday, a daughter, out of compulsion, left behind her crying parents and sisters and came away; they tore me away from my maternal home… They left me orphaned,” she said.

Rohini Blames Tejashwi’s Aides for the Poll Defeat
On Saturday, soon after the RJD’s electoral setback, Rohini named Sanjay Yadav and Rameez two close aides of Tejashwi Yadav as responsible for the party’s downfall.
While announcing her withdrawal from politics, she wrote, “I am quitting politics and disowning my family. This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez asked me to do, and I am taking all the blame.”
Both aides, known to be close to Tejashwi, have not commented on the controversy.
Rohini Claims She Was Expelled From the Family
Later, while speaking to reporters, Rohini said, “I don’t have a family. You should ask Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, and Rameez. They are the ones who threw me out of the family. They refuse to take any responsibility.”
She further added that anyone who questions these two aides is immediately insulted. “If you even mention the names of Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, you are insulted, thrown out, and abused.”
Political and Personal Backdrop
Rohini Acharya, a doctor by training, chose domestic life after marrying a Singapore-based professional. She contested the Saran Lok Sabha seat last year but lost.
Reports indicate she may have been upset over the expulsion of Tej Pratap Yadav Lalu’s elder son from the party earlier this year. Yet, she was visible on the campaign trail supporting Tejashwi during the elections.
The RJD suffered one of its worst defeats, dropping from 75 seats to only 24, while the Mahagathbandhan managed to secure just 35 seats in total.
BJP Targets RJD Over Internal Rift
The BJPw as quick to criticise the RJD leadership. Party spokesperson Ami Malviya accused the RJD of sidelining Rohini despite her donating a kidney to Lalu Prasad Yadav.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey went further, comparing Tejashwi Yadav to the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, who overthrew his own father and eliminated his elder brother to gain power.
