Rajnath Singh Hails Historic Agni-Prime Rail-Based Missile Launch | Why It Matters

India successfully test-fires Agni-Prime missile from a rail-based mobile launcher, boosting rapid deployment and strategic stealth capabilities.

In an historic achievement for technology and defense considerations, India has successfully tested the launch of the Agni-Prime Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile from a railway based mobile launcher system. This launch, as termed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, depicts the striking leap from the missile deployment platform that this country had so far known.

What is Rail-Based Missile Launch?

Those conventional launch platforms that existed in the past, this newly fangled rail-based strategy stands out for its stealth ready parameters, flexibility and swiftness in deployment. On top of this, the launcher can move with relative on the tracks to railway network built by India.

The operations were carried away by DRDO and SFC together while Rajnath Singh lauded each team for achieving the milestone.

What is India’s Agni-Prime Missile?

Agni-Prime Missile has been designed to fly over 2,000 kilometers and is armed with the latest features such as canister launch technology, state-of-the-art communication systems and autonomous launch capabilities.

The MoD confirms that during the recent test launch and the missile which soared across 2,000 kilometers hit its target with high precision, hence it is safe to say that it was a textbook launch.

Now that the missile launch proves a grand success and it will enhance India’s missile capabilities and make them more agile and seem unpredictable to the world.

What are Strategic Impact & Global?

Its accomplishment includes India now joining a club of countries U.S., Russia and China using rail-based systems for its missile arsenal. This system provides cross-country mobility, launches from remote or concealed locations that keep it away from enemy observation and adds a new dimension for clandestine train-tunnel and route missile activities within the terrain of the plains.

What is Aatmanirbhar Bharat in Defence?

The rail is mounted launcher with military advancement alone but also with the broader national vision of Aatmanirbharta or self-reliance. Future applications on indigenous manufacture are considered necessary to sustain and expand as India builds up its defenses.
