Rahul Gandhi has launched his sharpest attack yet on the Election Commission. He accused it of colluding with the BJP in massive voter fraud. Rahul Gandhi warned both bodies against “attacking the Constitution.” He claimed “100 per cent” proof of votes stolen to win key seats.
He also alleged the EC’s website went offline in three states. The EC and BJP have fired back, demanding proof or withdrawal of his allegations. This clash comes ahead of crucial Bihar polls, where voter list revisions have stirred political tensions.
“We Will Catch You One by One”
Speaking at a rally in Bengaluru, Gandhi directly accused the EC and BJP of “vote theft.” He said, “Think twice before attacking the Constitution. We will catch you, one by one. It will take time. But we will.”
He demanded the EC hand over voter lists and polling booth video recordings from the past decade. He stressed that withholding such data would not protect the poll body.

Bihar at the Centre of the Storm
Rahul Gandhi’s remarks are seen as targeting Bihar. The state will vote later this year. The EC’s “special intensive revision” of its voter list has already sparked controversy. Gandhi linked this to earlier allegations in Maharashtra.
He claimed one crore new voters appeared in the Assembly polls just four months after the Lok Sabha election. Most of these, he alleged, were registered at properties owned by BJP leaders.
EC and BJP Push Back Hard
The EC asked Gandhi to submit proof of his claims or retract them. It insisted he swear an oath over the allegations or file a signed affidavit. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya dismissed Gandhi’s charges as “political theatre” aimed at planting doubts and tarnishing a constitutional body. The BJP’s Karnataka unit accused the Congress of corruption and demanded Gandhi apologise to the people of the state.

Constitution as Political Battleground
The Congress often accuses the BJP of seeking to alter the Constitution. This time, the BJP turned the tables. It pointed to comments by Karnataka’s Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. It also hit back over a stadium stampede in Bengaluru during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL celebrations.
High-Stakes Confrontation Before Bihar Polls
The fight between Rahul Gandhi and the Election Commission of India has moved beyond routine political sparring. It now revolves around public trust in India’s democratic machinery.
Rahul Gandhi’s strategy appears aimed at framing the Bihar polls as a battle to protect the Constitution. For the BJP and EC, disproving his allegations before the campaign peaks will be critical.
