The demand for the release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi from Hamas captivity is growing stronger in Israel and Nepal. Israeli President Isaac Herzog joined Joshi’s mother, Padma and sister Pushpa in an emotional appeal at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem.

He promised that Israel will not rest until Joshi and all hostages return home. Nepal’s PM KP Sharma Oli and Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba also declared Joshi’s release a top national priority. Together, both countries have turned his case into a global call for hostage freedom.

President Herzog’s Strong Appeal

President Herzog shared a video of his meeting with Joshi’s family on the social media platform X. He described it as “heartbreaking” and said Israel stands with them in their pain. “We will not stop until every hostage is returned home. Bipin and all the hostages must be returned now,” he posted.

He recalled the October 7 Hamas attack, when Joshi, an agriculture student, was abducted from Kibbutz Alumim. Herzog stressed that Israel shares the anguish of Joshi’s family and will fight to end this “terrible nightmare.”

Nepal Steps Up Diplomacy

At home, Nepal’s leaders are working with urgency. PM Oli highlighted his direct calls with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, both key figures in Middle East diplomacy. Foreign Minister Deuba said Joshi’s case has been raised with ambassadors, in bilateral talks, and at major international forums, including the G77 plus China, the G20, the Asia Cooperation Dialogue in Doha, and the UN General Assembly.

She also mentioned her appeals to Qatar’s Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, a central mediator in peace talks. Requests have also been made to Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Egypt’s Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati. Deuba urged them all to take concrete steps to secure Joshi’s release.

Global Support & Wider Implications

Nepal has even reached out to the United States. A request has gone to Ricky Gill, Assistant to the US President, for support in freeing Joshi. Nepal’s embassies across the Middle East have been instructed to remain deeply engaged.

The government has assured Joshi’s family that every effort is ongoing and that this issue remains the highest priority.

One Hostage, Global Symbol

Bipin Joshi’s captivity has become more than a personal tragedy. His case now symbolizes the wider struggle for hostage freedom in conflict zones. Israel and Nepal’s joint pressure shows how a single voice can gain global resonance. Each appeal for Joshi is also a call for the safe return of every hostage still trapped in war.

Path Forward

Nepal and Israel are now speaking in one voice. Their combined diplomatic and moral efforts demonstrate how severe the issue is. Several students are advocating for Joshi’s release.

It is about ending impunity and returning humanity to the days of violence. The world is reminded by his case that every prisoner has a family waiting for them and that his nation isn’t giving up.
