Increased Dependence on Digital Networks
This shows India’s increased dependence on uninterrupted telecommunications services. Today, in a digital-first economy, even a small disruption can have a domino effect from hindering financial transactions to servicing businesses that require real-time connectivity.
For one of India’s leading telecom operators, such outages highlight the challenge of maintaining seamless operation while serving millions of customers at the same time.
Glimpses of the Future
While localized outages are not abnormal for telecom operators, the rampaging blackouts which took place on a Monday might set the entire system of Airtel and its crisis management infrastructure under higher scrutiny. For users, this incident is an agog reminder of how fundamental reliable connectivity has become to daily life and just how fast disruptions can send nationwide anxiety on the run.
