Actor Denise Richards has accused her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, of severe domestic abuse. She claimed that he physically attacked her, threatened to kill her, and monitored her personal devices without permission.
Court Grants Denise Richards a Restraining Order
According to PEOPLE, Richards received a temporary domestic violence restraining order against Phypers. In her legal complaint, she detailed several shocking incidents during their six-year marriage, including physical violence, emotional threats, and hacking.
Richards Details Repeated Violence and Threats
In her court filing, Richards stated, “Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in the face and head, aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack, threaten to kill me, hold me down with his knee on my back… and hack into my laptop and phone to download all of my text messages.” She also revealed that Phypers owned at least eight unregistered guns, and often made death threats.
Richards Says Phypers Used Fear to Silence Her
Richards further alleged, “He has repeatedly threatened to kill himself and me if I reported him to the police…”
She claimed Phypers emotionally manipulated her begging her to stay, crying, and promising to seek help, though she said he never followed through.
July 4 Incident Prompted Legal Action
Richards described a violent encounter on July 4. She said Phypers came extremely close to her face, screamed insults, and then grabbed her arms and dragged her, causing her to fall on the stairs and suffer intense pain.
Aaron Phypers Denies All Accusations
In response, Phypers issued a public statement through PEOPLE, strongly denying the allegations. He said, “Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone. These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful.”
He acknowledged relationship struggles but emphasized that any suggestion of abuse was “categorically untrue.” He also asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Court Hearing Scheduled for August 8
The court will hold a hearing regarding the restraining order on August 8. Until then, the temporary protection order remains in place.
