Actor Ranbir Kapoor has landed once again in the spotlight for his guest appearance on Aryan Khan’s series ‘The Ba***s of Bollywood.’ The superstar makes a cameo appearance in the final episode of the series, directed by Aryan Khan. The National Human Rights Commission feels that his acting as a character puffing on a vape would mislead people and encourage the use of e-cigarettes. But what does he do in the scene? And is it an important segment of the show?
Ranbir is seen just for a few minutes in Episode 7 of the series, ‘Picture Ka Title Hoga.’. He visits Karan Johar’s office to talk about the hiring of his new manager. Here’s how the scene unfolds:
Johar speaks to Sanya, Aasmaan’s manager, over the phone at the Dharma Productions office in Mumbai. He attempts to convince her to leave Aasmaan, with all the scandals revolving around him, and look for greener and greater opportunities in the film world. Johar also takes into account Sanya’s talent, remembering how she had once prevailed over him to cast Aasmaan in a high-budget movie funded by him.
As Johar goes on, Ranbir walks into the room in his usual relaxed way. He and Johar exchange their friendly expletive-filled repartee before superstar Ranbir sits down. A shocked Sanya informs him that she is a huge fan. Ranbir expresses gratitude and offers his hand. Assuming he is shaking hers out of politeness, Sanya shakes it—only to have him define, “Hi. The vape.”
Sanya passes over the vape, and Ranbir nonchalantly takes a drag and then hands it over to her, asking her to be his manager. Stunned, she declines the offer politely. Johar glances at Kapoor and wisecracks, “Is this the first time a girl has rejected you?” The actor dramatically places a hand on his heart and says, “So, this is how it feels?”
As Sanya exits, Kapoor returns the vape, but she doesn’t take it back. She exits, and the actor appreciates her loyalty to Aasmaan.
That’s it—that is the scene.
Its importance is in revealing the connection between two individuals who began life together and would not leave each other even in bad times.
Ranbir Kapoor’s cameo is as interesting and pertinent as those of a few others in the series. Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, Aamir Khan, S. S. Rajamouli, Shah Rukh Khan, Sara Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Maheep Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and Rajkummar Rao are some of the several stars who appear in the Netflix series.
‘The Ba***s of Bollywood’ is a one-of-a-kind series founded on the Hindi film industry and is director Aryan Khan’s debut. It can be streamed on Netflix.
