Priya Marathe Television actress, who had garnered upward admiration across both Marathi and Hindi entertainment industries, lost her life on August 31, 2025, and after a prolonged battle with cancer. As per Maharashtra Times, the news came in as a shock to the fans and the colleagues at PR and is deeply mourned. Priya Marathe easily blended into her characters and hence, her life had been myriad in versatility, commitment and performances which were memorable.
Early Days in Marathi Television
Priya Marathe began her acting career in a Marathi show called Ya Sukhano Ya. In a short time, she had made a promise as an actor. Her other appearances in Char Divas Sasuche and some other Marathi serials earned her some sort of recognition that opened up the path to the Hindi television industry for her.
The transition to national television nowadays was through Kasam hai Se, where she played Vidya Bali and later showed off her comic timing in Comedy Circus.

Breakthrough Roles in Hindi Television
The turning point in her career came with Pavitra Rishta when she portrayed Varsha, a character that struck a strong chord with the audiences and earned her instant recognition.
Later, she starred in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain as Jyoti Malhotra and received rave reviews for the complex portrayal of Bhavani Rathod in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. Balancing such variety of roles in both shades of good and bad with equal conviction remains her hallmark that distinguished her from her co-stars.

Personal Life Intertwined with Theatre and Televison
Theatre and television actor Shantanu Moghe, who is famously known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Swarajyarakshak Sambhaji, was Priya’s husband since 2012. In doing so, she became the daughter-in-law of the eminent actor Shrikant Moghe.
Although she is busy with her personal fight against her body in the recent past, Priya Marathe has stayed committed to her work, cancelling some of her projects for the last couple of years due to her ill health.

Priya Marathe has steered a remarkable path in all genres from drama, comedy and thrillers. Whether Marathi serials like Tu Tithe Me and Yeu Kashi Tashi Mee Nandayala or her memorable roles in Hindi television, she had on her hands a beautifully varied portfolio. Her last post in August 2024 gave some insight to the fans into her resilient nature and candidly explained her reason to opt out of a show owing to poor health.
With the departure of Priya Marathe, the Indian television industry is deprived of an inimitable presence. Remembered will be her talent, but also her courageous battle against the life-threatening predicament.
