When the Moon tarot card turns up in your reading, it can mean confusion, anxiety, and fear. Even so, this card does not indicate sinister forces. Rather, the negative emotions we feel are triggered by our misunderstanding of the events in our present or past.

The Moon tarot card tells you that you need to face your anxieties and fears head-on. Have you been avoiding the negativity in your life rather than dealing with them? Now is the time to get constructive and banish these emotions once and for all.

The Moon Tarot Card Description#

The Moon tarot card depicts a long road with the moon shining down on it. On either side of this path, there is a dog and a wolf.

These creatures personify our animalistic nature; the dog represents our domestic, docile side, and the wolf shows our feral and wild one.

Arising from the water, we see a crawfish crawling up to the path, symbolizing us humans who are about to set out on a long way towards a blurred or uncertain destination. Although these events take place at night, the surroundings of the animals are bright and easily seen.

The moon shines its light down to guide the crawfish down the path. Off in the distance stands two towers on either side of the path. The towers signify positive and negative forces. Their likeness may also allude to our struggle to distinguish between good and evil.

The Moon Tarot Meaning#

When the Moon tarot card appears in a reading upright, it can mean that you are allowing your imagination and emotions to take control of your life. This may be linked to anxieties, fears, or self-deception.

The Moon can symbolize uncertainty, fear, or the need to face what is unclear. Trusting intuition does not guarantee deliverance from a difficulty.

The upright Moon can also be some illusion. There may be a hidden truth in your life that you need to uncover. The Moon cautions you from accepting what things seem to be. It may be time to dig a little deeper and allow the light to shine upon the fallacies in your life.

Work and Money Meaning#

The Moon when connected to money and career signifies confusion or deception. You might be having some trouble deciding what career path to choose. On the other hand, someone at work may be making things difficult for you to move forward.

Outside forces can make it difficult for us to focus on how we really feel. Instead of listening to others, focus on trusting your intuition. By doing so, you can be sure that you make the right decision on how to move forward.

Regarding finances, The Moon is a call out for caution. You will need to make sure that you are wary when making new investments. See that you have all the facts before you decide on what you invest in.

The Moon can symbolize uncertainty or mistrust, but it does not establish that someone is attempting fraud. Verify people and offers independently.

Again, it is important to trust your gut and only make the decision that feels right. Use the card for reflection, then ground the decision in evidence and practical risk.

Love and Relationships Meaning#

In love and relationships, the Moon tarot card usually signifies miscommunication. You could be having more frequent arguments with your partner due to this lack of communication. This pattern may strain a relationship if it is actually present.

If you are experiencing this in your relationship, allow the light from the Moon to light your path. You will need to channel much of that negative energy into motivation to bring harmony into your relationship once again.

If you are single, The Moon cautions that someone you are interested in may not be all that they seem. The card cannot establish another person's intentions; look for verifiable behavior and communicate directly where appropriate. Make sure that you are taking the time to truly get to know this person before you dive too deep into a new relationship with them.

Health and Spirituality Meaning#

Getting a reading with the Moon card does not necessarily mean you are in bad health. It can symbolize uncertainty or fear, but it cannot diagnose anxiety, depression, or another mental health condition.

If you have a feeling that something is wrong, now is the time to get to the bottom of it. If a concern is dismissed, ask questions or seek an appropriate second opinion.

The card cannot identify menstrual or hormonal problems. Discuss symptoms or concerns with a qualified healthcare professional.

The Moon Reversed Meaning#

The Moon reversed can symbolize greater clarity after uncertainty. It cannot predict that anxiety or depression will end; seek support appropriate to your circumstances.

This image of the Moon can symbolize hope, but it does not promise recovery from illness or difficulty. If you are experiencing any problems, now is the time to face them head-on.

The reversed Moon can symbolize a wish for clarity, but it cannot provide medical guidance or determine the right response to anxiety. Seek qualified support when needed.

The Moon: Yes or No#

Many readers treat the Moon in a yes or no reading as NO-leaning because it symbolizes uncertainty or incomplete information. That convention does not establish deception or decide what you should do.

Use the Moon as a prompt to identify missing information and practical risks, not as a warning that dictates what you should do.

The Moon Card Combinations#

The Moon isn’t usually a positive companion, as it tends to muddy the waters and create instability. Watch for a positive card following to release the situation and bring clarity to the matter.

The Moon and the Devil#

The combination of the Moon and the Devil signifies a deceptive presence in your life. Someone close to you is taking advantage of you or purposely deceiving you for their gain.
