Former One Direction member Zayn Malik cancelled his solo concert in Newcastle, England just minutes before it was about to begin on Tuesday night. He took to Instagram to apologize, saying he was unable to perform because of vocal problems.
“I am so sorry to do this but my voice just isn’t there at all tonight and without it there’s no show. I’m truly sorry to let you down, especially at such short notice.I held onto hope until the very last moment. I’m hopeful with some rest tonight I’ll be back on stage tomorrow. My deepest apologies Newcastle love you all xx,” he wrote.
Zayn will be next on the 4th of December at the O2 Apollo in Manchester, England. This is the latest in a series of cancellations on his first solo tour supporting his album ‘The Room Under the Stairs’. The tour was initially scheduled to start October 23 in San Francisco; it has been delayed a month, and several shows originally scheduled in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and New York City have been rescheduled for January after a former member of his old band, Liam Payne, died on October 16.
On X (formerly Twitter), Zayn shared: “Given the heartbreaking loss that has happened this week, I’ve decided to move the US leg of the STAIRWAY TO THE SKY Tour back. The new dates are being scheduled for January and will post those soon as all is settled in the coming days. Your tickets remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thanks for your understanding.”
