One of the four terminals at London’s Heathrow Airport, which was evacuated earlier on Monday after a “possible hazardous materials incident,” has now been reopened following a declaration of safety, the airport confirmed.
Heathrow Apology Via Social Media
Heathrow London Airport authorities have genuinely apologized for the inconvenience, posting, X: “Emergency services have agreed that Terminal 4 is safe to reopen. We’re working to get all flights away as scheduled today and apologize genuinely for the disruption caused. Passenger and staff safety and security are our absolute priority. Passengers should properly check with their airline for flight safety and updates, and our team will be continuing to help into the night.”

Heathrow Terminal 4 Connectivity
Terminal 4 of London’s Heathrow Airport, which usually deals with both European and long-connecting flights, was shut in the evening briefly while a special team came into action to evacuate the situation. Paramedics treated 21 individuals at the spot, and one patient was admitted to hospital, a London ambulance service said. The nature of the incident is not disclosed yet.

No Traces of Any Hazardous Substance
Expert officers of the Metropolitan Police also did a thorough search of the terminal without any trace of any “hazardous substance.” However, this unverified video quickly went viral on social media. There were, however, earlier reports of a large number of passengers waiting outside, although Heathrow’s departures board reported flights continuing to depart.
The airport has previously suffered significant disruption, most notably in March when a fire at an adjacent power substation caused a near-total halt, impacting flights around the globe and leaving thousands of travelers stranded.
