Will Renew Talks With PM On J&K’s Statehood: Omar

Omar Abdullah reiterated his demand for the restoration of statehood, stating that the promises made to the people must be honoured at all costs.

He said that people participated in droves in recent polls and that their commitment to the cause must be honoured.

When asked about declaration of holiday on the birth anniversary of National Conference founder Sheikh Abdullah, Omar said that they have a significant battle ahead-to ensure Jammu and Kashmir regains its status as a state. “This is not just about us but about the promises made by the Prime Minister to the people of J&K during parliamentary and assembly elections. People of J&K participated in those elections with full enthusiasm, hoping their trust would be honored.”

He added the Prime Minister and Home Minister were understandably occupied with polls in Maharashtra and elsewhere. “Now that those matters are resolved, we will talk to them again and expect them to fulfill their commitment to the people of J&K and restore its statehood without delay.”

Omar Abdullah on Punjab I spoke to Sukhbir after the attack on him and expressed my gratitude to the Almighty that he survived. We discussed the situation and other matters that are not for public disclosure.

However, it is a matter of great concern that a former Deputy Chief Minister, with Z-plus category protection, can be attacked in broad daylight. This incident needs to be thoroughly investigated to understand how it happened and to ensure it doesn’t occur again in the future.

Let us not forget that Punjab went through a very difficult phase in the 1980s and early 1990s. God forbid we ever experience something like that again.

Omar on Mosques being targeted: In this country, people of all religions are allowed to live fearlessly. Our Constitution enshrines the principle of equality, ensuring that no matter what our religion is, we have the freedom to live in this country.

However, it seems like a deliberate conspiracy is at play, with mosques and shrines being targeted. You say you will not appease Muslims, and we are not asking for appeasement, but that does not give you the right to target us. Do not victimize us by attacking our mosques, shrines, or our right to practice our religion.

This is not the India that Jammu and Kashmir joined, nor is it the India our forefathers envisioned.
If you can uphold secularism, then do so. If not, then remove the word from the Constitution through Parliament. But targeting any community is not the path forward for this country.

Fight for J&K’s statehood remains our priority, and we urge the government to fulfill its promise to the people; SKIMS was built to ensure J&K residents don’t need to go outside for medical treatment, but challenges like staff shortages and procurement delays remain. We must restore SKIMS’ self-reliance and help it serve better:Chief Minister J&K .
