WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new privacy feature for linked devices, according to WABetaInfo. The feature, known as locked chats, is currently being tested by some Android beta testers and is accessible in app version 2.24.11.9. This feature aims to provide users with an additional layer of privacy for their conversations, ensuring that their sensitive chats remain protected on their linked devices.

Locked Chats Feature

The locked chats feature allows users to safeguard their conversations on linked devices by creating a secret code to access the locked chats folder. This code is set up on the primary phone by accessing the secret code screen within the locked chats list. Once configured, the protected conversations will no longer appear in the regular chats list on linked devices and can only be accessed via the locked chats screen. Furthermore, the secret code is synchronized across all linked devices, ensuring consistent access to protected conversations with the same passcode.

“By allowing users to separate their protected conversations from the chats list, WhatsApp ensures a high level of confidentiality, reducing the risk of accidental exposure. In addition, locked chats are consistently synchronized across all devices by setting up a secret code. With the introduction of locked chats support for linked devices, users can be confident that their sensitive conversations always remain hidden from prying eyes across all their mobile devices,” the report states.
