WB SSC Scam: Partha Chatterjee removed from all posts with immediate effects

Trinamool Congress general secretary and Mamata Banerjee’s close aide Partha Chatterjee has been removed from the Bengal ministry on Thursday. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following his arrest in the school jobs scam case.

Amid growing clamor to remove Commerce and Industries Department minister Chatterjee from all posts the meeting was called by Mamata Banerjee. Partha Chatterjee has been removed from the positions of Commerce and Industry, Parliamentary Affairs, Information Technology and Electronics, and Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction in the state Cabinet.

Post Chatterjee’s removal Mamata Banerjee has taken charge of the Commerce and Industry ministry.

Earlier in the day, TMC general secretary and spokesperson Kunal Ghosh had called for Partha Chatterjee’s expulsion and said, “Partha Chatterjee should be removed from ministry and all party posts immediately. He should be expelled. If this statement is considered wrong, the party has every right to remove me from all posts. I shall continue as a soldier of @AITCofficial,” he said in a tweet on Thursday.”

However, during the raid on Wednesday, the investigating agency (ED) recovered another Rs 28.90 crore in cash, 5 kg of gold, and several documents from the second apartment and earlier the agency found Rs 21.90 crore in cash, Rs 56 lakh in foreign currency and gold worth Rs 76 lakh from Arpita’s house.
