Toxic foam surfaced on a road in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, approximately 40 km from Bengaluru, on Thursday morning following heavy rainfall and the discharge of water from a nearby reservoir.
Rescue teams were seen clearing the toxic froth, which reached about five feet in height on the road. The Krishnagiri Superintendent of Police reported that the road has been blocked and traffic diverted.

Hosur experienced over 11 cm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, according to the Meteorological office. This surge in rainwater raised the storage levels in the nearby Kelavarapalli reservoir, leading to its discharge into the Thenpennai River, which subsequently inundated surrounding areas and caused the buildup of toxic foam.
Currently, there is no official information regarding the specific pollutants responsible for this toxic froth. However, it is suspected that industrial units in neighboring Karnataka may have discharged effluents into the river, taking advantage of the rainfall. Authorities are actively investigating the precise cause of the toxic foam.
