Airport officials indicated that the aircraft experienced a “hard landing,” which triggered the activation of emergency services, including the Clark County Fire Department. Frontier Airlines confirmed that the pilots noticed smoke as the plane landed and promptly declared an emergency. “The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew were evacuated via airstairs,” stated a spokesperson for the airline. After the evacuation, passengers were transported to the terminal by bus.
The flight departed from San Diego at 1:51 PM Pacific Time and successfully landed in Las Vegas at 3:37 PM. While the fire was extinguished swiftly, the cause of the incident remains under investigation. Additionally, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implemented a temporary ground stop at the airport while they assessed the situation.
As investigations continue, the incident raises important questions regarding the safety protocols and mechanical conditions of commercial flights.
