A resident of Gurgaon, identified as Gajodhar Singh on social media, has expressed frustration after heavy rainfall caused significant damage to his luxury vehicles. In his social media post, Singh questioned the state of Gurgaon’s infrastructure, highlighting the lack of response from local authorities. “I pay my taxes and bills, only to wake up and find my BMW, Mercedes, and i20 stranded and damaged,” Singh lamented on Instagram. He criticized the city’s handling of the situation and noted that despite his efforts to hire a crane, no service was willing to operate in the deep water.
The video, which depicts the waterlogged streets of Gurgaon’s Sector 57, has sparked outrage online. Singh urged his followers to tag local officials to draw attention to the issue. “This isn’t Mumbai or Bangalore; this is Gurgaon, a so-called metro city in India,” he wrote, expressing his dismay.
The heavy rains on Thursday resulted in severe flooding and waterlogging across several areas in Gurgaon. Residents have blamed the inadequate drainage system and delays in drain desilting for the flooding. Comments on social media echoed Singh’s frustration, with users criticizing the government’s response and infrastructure management. “It’s a shame to see such damage after paying hefty taxes,” one user remarked, while others pointed to the broader issue of poor water drainage in the Delhi NCR region.
Authorities have yet to address the immediate concerns raised by the residents, as the city grapples with the impact of the recent downpour.
