Veterinarian's Surprise Finding: Apple Watch Tracks Lion's Heart Rate Alongside Humans

In a roar of innovation, Australian vets are using Apple Watches to track the health of lions! Dr. Chloe Buiting, aka “@Jungle_doctor,” amazed everyone with a video on Instagram, which showed a lion, fast asleep, with an Apple Watch on its tongue.

Dr. Buiting explained that this clever idea came from Dr. Fabiola Quesada, who tried it first on an elephant. The watch helps measure heart rates, which is crucial for wild animal’s health.

The Apple Watch’s sensors are super smart. They can handle heart rates from 30 to 210 beats per minute. Even if the signal is weak, it cranks up the LED light to get clear readings. And get this—it uses infrared light to check your heart rate in the background and give you notifications!

So, while humans use Apple Watches for workouts and mindfulness, lions are also getting in on the action. Who knew technology could be the mane event in animal care
