Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was arrested in Sacramento, California, last Thursday. His arrest was not related to the high-profile crimes he is wanted for in India, including the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and the recent killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique. Instead, he was detained for entering the US with fraudulent documents.
Despite being linked to several major criminal cases, Anmol Bishnoi faces an extradition request from India. However, at this time, there are no indications that he will be sent back to India. The US government has informed India about Bishnoi’s detention, noting that he is being held in Pottawattamie County Jail, Iowa, but the charges are not related to the crimes in India.
Bishnoi, a key figure in his brother’s global criminal syndicate, was believed to have been living in Canada, but he frequently traveled between the US and Canada. His brother, Lawrence Bishnoi, is a well-known figure in the criminal underworld and is currently imprisoned in Ahmedabad.
Indian authorities have been investigating Anmol Bishnoi for his involvement in multiple cases, including the shooting incident outside actor Salman Khan’s house earlier this year. Mumbai Police have proposed his extradition to India, following the issuance of a non-bailable warrant and a Red Corner Notice by Interpol.
The Bishnoi gang, notorious for its role in multiple violent incidents, continues to attract attention, with ongoing investigations into their activities. Anmol Bishnoi, now on the most-wanted list of India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA), faces rewards and further legal challenges.
