In a bitter midnight tirade on Truth Social, Trump, who is in Scotland on a five-day stay, threatened to prosecute Harris, Oprah Winfrey and Beyonce.
Trump’s Claims Against Beyoncé and Harris
Beyonce “never sang, not a single note, and departed the stage to a booing and irate audience” after being paid $11 million to campaign for Harris during 2024 presidential elections, Trump claimed.
Moreover, he claimed that Democrats had paid TV personality and civil rights activist Reverend Al Sharpton $600,000 and Oprah $3 million in “expenses.”
Oprah previously said she “was not paid a dime” to support Harris, whose campaign spent a $1 million live-streamed event.
“YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. IT IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO DO SO,” the GOP leader wrote in a Truth Social post. “Can you imagine what would happen if politicians started paying for people to endorse them. All hell would break out! Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted!”
Epstein Backlash Looms Over Trump
Trump’s new rant comes amid his own backlash over his handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case files.
“The people who worked on that production needed to be paid. And were,” Oprah said during that time, adding, “End of story.”
Trump previously attacked the investigation into Epstein as a politically motivated campaign. The Hill quoted him as referring to it as a “con job” by Democrats to turn the attention away from his performance.
Threats Against the Press and Media
Moreover, Trump has repeatedly warned of lawsuits against journalists, publishers, and media groups for what he considers adversarial reporting.
Press freedom advocates were left reeling when Trump made big money deals with ABC News and CBS News after he sued the networks as a candidate.
Legal Action Against Murdoch and The Wall Street Journal
Those fears have not dissipated, as Trump this week sued Rupert Murdoch, The Wall Street Journal, its corporate parents, and two reporters for $10 billion after the WSJ reported what was purportedly a birthday letter written by the president to Epstein.
But Trump provided no evidence that the Democratic campaign hired them to support him.
According to a report from The Hill, Trump has ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to unseal Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s grand jury testimony.
