The upcoming meeting of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA)bloc is still under question, as doubts continue to be entertained over the attendance of all the allies.
As per people familiar with the matter, the scheduled meeting might be held in an online mode to ensure attendance of all allies.
According to a top Congress leader’s revelation, a significant faction within the alliance intends to postpone the date following Trinamool Congress’s recent announcement of its alleged non-attendance at the June 1 meeting.
The second-largest party within the INDIA bloc will be absent from the upcoming alliance meeting in Delhi, citing commitments to the final phase of Lok Sabha elections and relief efforts in the aftermath of Cyclone Remal.
Meanwhile, the meeting was convened to strategize on exit polls, which is slated to be announced after the final phase of polling.
Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her objection to referring to Narendra Modi solely as the Prime Minister rather than as the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party during the general election campaign.
Elaborating more on this point, West Bengal CM said,
“Modiji has every right to campaign. He has every right to come here and participate in election programmes. But I am surprised to see him being referred to as the PM in his party’s campaign advertisements.” said Bannerjee while campaigning in Kolkata Uttar constituency.
Later, the TMC chief further emphasized that she is still adhering to the model code of conduct, despite her campaign managers and party members referring to her as the TMC chairperson, even though it is not an assembly election.
“Can he do this? I am being referred to as TMC chairperson by my campaign managers and by my party here even though it is not assembly polls. Still, I am adhering to the model code of conduct” says Bannerjee, a day before Modi’s roadshow in Kolkata.
