Hon’ble Dinanath Batra Ji was born on 05 March 1930 in Dera Ghazi Khan which is now in present Pakistan. After studying in Lahore University, he started teaching. He was also the Principal of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta Vidyalaya in Kurukshetra. He established this school as an Adarsh Vidyalaya. There was no difference between his words and actions. His behavior followed his words. Batra Ji must have been about 17 years old at the time of independence, even at that young age, at the time of partition of Pakistan, he first sent his family to India, after some time he started helping other refugees. Taking up the responsibility of helping other refugees without worrying about his own life, the feeling of altruism at a young age was an incomparable quality of his personality.
Batra Ji was the flag bearer of the movement for change in education through ‘Shiksha Bachao Andolan Samiti’. He was the principal of D.A.V. School, Derabassi Punjab from 1955 to 1965 and Geeta Senior Secondary School, Kurukshetra from 1965 to 1990. He worked as a member of the curriculum plan of Haryana Education Board, Delhi Education Board, Delhi Education Code Committee, Delhi Moral Education Committee. He worked as the General Secretary of Haryana Teachers Association. He was the Executive President of All India Hindustan Scouts Guide. As the National General Secretary, Vice President and National Executive Member of Vidya Bharati All India Education Institute, he continuously worked for the improvement of education. He has been the Director and Patron of Panchnad Shodh Sansthan. He was a member of the Executive of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and Indian Education Research Institute, Lucknow. He was the President of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan and National Convener of Shiksha Bachao Andolan.
Respected Dinanath Batra ji has written many books. Some of the important books among them are- Shiksha mein Bharatiyata, Tejomay Bharat, Preranadeep – Part 1, 2, 3 and 4, Vidyalaya: pravrittiyon ka aalaya, Acharya Ka Acharyatva Jage.
Even after all these achievements, respected Batra ji never asked for anything for himself. He demanded only the improvement of Indian education from the government, courts and officials throughout his life. His contribution through Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas in the establishment of National Education Policy 2019 is a unique gift to the nation.
Hon’ble Batra ji also received many honors and awards due to his excellent work related to education – Bharat Scouts, ‘Medal of Merit’ by His Excellency Governor in Haryana, Certificate of Appreciation by Haryana Education Board, Honor for Best Teacher, National Award by the President in the field of teaching etc.
Founder President of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas and National Convenor of Shiksha Bachao Andolan, inspirational teacher, renowned educationist, Hon’ble who dedicated his entire life to Indian education. Dinanath Batra ji has completed his journey in this world and has departed on the eternal journey on 07.11.2024. Humble tributes were paid to Hon. Batra ji on behalf of National Secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Shri Atul Bhai Kothari ji, all the workers of the Nyas and educationists from across the country.
