A 30-year-old factory worker in Thailand tragically passed away after her request for additional sick leave was denied by her supervisor. The incident took place in Samut Prakan province, south of Bangkok, at an electronics manufacturing plant owned by Delta Electronics Thailand.

The worker, identified as May, had been undergoing treatment for an inflamed large intestine and was on medical leave from September 5-9. During this period, she was hospitalized for four days and advised to take two more days to recover at home.

On September 12, May requested further sick leave, but her manager rejected the request and instructed her to return to work. Despite her deteriorating health, she reported for duty but collapsed after just 20 minutes on the factory floor. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery for necrotizing enterocolitis but later died due to complications.

Delta Electronics Thailand expressed deep sorrow over the loss. CEO Victor Cheng stated, “Our people are the foundation of our success, and we are devastated by this loss. Our priority is to provide support to the employee’s family and remain transparent throughout this process.” The company pledged to keep all relevant parties informed as more details emerge.
