Surge in Medical OPD as patients of Viral increase with onset of summers

With the change in weather in the state, the number of patients suffering from fever has started increasing in hospitals due to viral cough, cold and wedding season. In such a situation, the health department officials in Jaipur district have given necessary guidelines to the doctors. The Dhanvantri OPD of SMS hospital is seeing a continuous surge in patients suffering from Viral and prolonged cough.

Due to the change in weather, severe heat is being witnessed in Jaipur. In such a situation, people are falling prey to other viral diseases including cough and cold. Due to which the medical OPD of Hospital has reached to approximately two thousand per day that used to be around one thousand on normal days. Dhanvantri OPD is well equipped and is able to attend and manage this sudden influx of patients with the soaring temperatures, says a doctor on duty. “We are checking thousands of patients in a day without any hassle as the medicines and other resources are in sufficient quantity. We are making sure that all the patients who walk in are given proper time and attention despite excessive footfall of patients”

The senior doctors and the Doctors on duty are giving instructions to the patients to avoid going out in the sun if not important. Besides, the patients are being advised to take fluids at frequent intervals to prevent dehydration. Apart from the medication, the doctors have also suggested to avoid eating street food. A senior doctor says, “people should avoid eating street food, and food prepared by vendors across the street as it may cause food poisoning and other infections.” An official mentioned that proper resources are available for the patients and immediate attention is being given to any patient with serious issues are immediately being given proper medical attention.”

Apart from this, doctors say that a person should not step out of home on an empty stomach to avoid acidity or any other trouble.
