Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar slammed Opposition parties regarding the attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his university degree. He said that whether an educational degree is a political issue when the country has been passing through numerous problems such as unemployment, law and order, and inflation.
“Should anyone’s educational qualification be a political issue in the country? Currently, in the name of religion and caste, people are being divided. Unseasonal rains in Maharashtra have destroyed crops. Discussions should take place on such matters.
However, the Gujarat High Court declared on 31 March that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) was not required to provide the degree and post-graduate degree certificates of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, overturning the decision of the Chief Information Commission (CIC).
The single-judge bench of Justice Biren Vaishnav overturned the CIC’s directive to the PMO, Gujarat University, and Delhi University to provide information about PM Modi’s graduate and post-graduate degrees.
The bench was hearing an appeal filed by Gujarat University challenging the CIC order.
The High Court also imposed costs of Rs 25,000 on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his request for information regarding the Prime Minister’s degree certificate.
Sharad Pawar went on to say that there is “no need” for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani issue because the Supreme Court has already appointed a committee that is reliable and impartial in the Adani issue’s investigation.
