The showdown between India and Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 match is slated to occur at New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 9.
Statement from New York Governor Kathy Hochul:
“As preparations for the Cricket World Cup are underway, my Administration has been collaborating for months with federal law enforcement and Nassau County authorities to ensure the safety of New Yorkers and visitors. This has involved close coordination with the New York State Police Counter Terrorism Unit and New York State Police Troop L, situated on Long Island. While there is currently no credible public safety threat, we are continuously monitoring the situation. I have instructed the New York State Police to implement heightened security measures, including increased law enforcement presence, enhanced surveillance, and thorough screening procedures. Ensuring public safety is my utmost priority, and we are dedicated to ensuring that the Cricket World Cup is a secure and enjoyable event.”
