Sarbananda Sonowal praises high voter turnout in Dibrugarh

Union Minister and BJP candidate from the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency, Sarbananda Sonowal, exercised his voting rights at a polling station in Dibrugarh town at Sahitya Sabah Bhawan during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Following his vote, he expressed satisfaction with the public turnout, citing it as a positive indicator for democracy.

Sonowal emphasized the importance of public participation in strengthening democracy, attributing the high voter turnout to the positive changes brought about by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. He highlighted developments such as employment generation, income growth for farmers, and improved livelihoods for laborers as key achievements of the BJP government, resonating with voters.

Encouraging voters to support the BJP, Sonowal urged them to vote for the lotus symbol, symbolizing the party, and reiterated his endorsement of Narendra Modi for a third term as Prime Minister.

The ongoing Lok Sabha elections are taking place across 21 states, covering 102 seats in the first phase, including five seats in Upper Assam where Sonowal is contesting. The remaining seats will be voted on in subsequent phases.

In the first phase in Assam, elections are underway for seats including Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Kaziranga, and Sonitpur. The BJP is contesting all these seats, with a total of 36 candidates vying for victory.

Notable candidates in this phase include Sarbananda Sonowal, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, and sitting MPs from various parties. Assam, with its significant electoral representation, will witness voting in three phases for its 14 seats, with the BJP and its allies aiming to secure a substantial portion of these seats.
