Indian batter Sai Sudharsan has undergone surgery for a sports hernia in London, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. On Tuesday, Sudharsan shared an update on his surgery, expressing his confidence in a quick recovery. He thanked the medical team and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their support.
“Will be back stronger in no time. A big thank you to the medical team and BCCI for their efforts and support. Thank you Titans family for your love and support,” Sudharsan wrote in an Instagram post.
Sudharsan, who represents Tamil Nadu, played just one match in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he scored only nine runs against Tripura. The 23-year-old is expected to miss the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, scheduled from December 21 to January 18.
Prior to his limited appearance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Sudharsan had been part of the India A team, impressing with a score of 21 and 103 in his first match against Australia. However, he struggled in the second match with scores of 0 and 3.
Sudharsan had also shown impressive form in the Ranji Trophy, scoring 82 against Saurashtra and a remarkable 213 against Delhi. For the upcoming IPL season, Sudharsan was retained by Gujarat Titans for Rs 8.5 crore, alongside other key players like Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Shahrukh Khan, and Rahul Tewatia.
With Sudharsan’s current setback, Gujarat Titans will hope for his swift recovery to help them in their pursuit of the IPL 2025 title.
