Clarification of Intent
In a follow-up video posted on his Instagram, Rajpal clarified that his aim was not to dampen the festive spirit of Diwali. He expressed regret if anyone felt hurt by his earlier remarks. In the video, he also shared his Diwali wishes with his fans, stating, “I apologize from the bottom of my heart. My aim was not to reduce the happiness of Diwali… Diwali is the festival of happiness and light for us, and making it beautiful for everyone is our real festival. Lots of best wishes and love to all of you; let’s make this Diwali special together.”
Timing of the Apology
Interestingly, Rajpal Yadav made this apology shortly before the release of Kartik Aaryan’s film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. This has led to speculation that he may have issued the apology to avoid potential controversy surrounding the film. It raises the question: Did the film’s producers request Rajpal to apologize publicly?
Why Rajpal Spoke Out
On October 27, Yadav stirred some debate with a video in which he addressed Hindus, urging them to refrain from using firecrackers during Diwali celebrations. He noted that the festival can still be enjoyed without fireworks. Rajpal emphasized that the loud sounds from firecrackers can distress animals, which prompted his call for a more considerate celebration.
Upcoming Film Release
Rajpal Yadav’s latest film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee, releases today. The horror-comedy also features a star-studded cast, including Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Triptii Dimri, Madhuri Dixit, Vijay Raaz, and Sanjay Mishra. Rajpal is notable for being the only actor to appear in all three installments of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. The film faces competition at the box office from Rohit Shetty’s cop drama Singham Again.
