Congress MP Rahul Gandhi made a stop at a restaurant on his way to Wayanad on Wednesday, where he met with the chefs and staff, sharing a candid moment with them. Gandhi enjoyed a sumptuous lunch at the popular eatery and took time to speak with the restaurant staff and take pictures with them.
“We often forget to say thank you to the people who quietly work behind the scenes. On my way to Wayanad, we stopped by to have a delicious lunch at a restaurant called White House in Thamarassery. Felt like going into their kitchen and saying thank you to the Chefs, the staff, and all those who made sure we had a sumptuous meal this afternoon. #letssaythankyou,” Gandhi shared in a post on X.
Gandhi also expressed his gratitude to the voters in Kerala who contributed to his Lok Sabha victory from Wayanad in the 2024 general elections. This marks his first visit to the state following his significant victory, where he defeated his rival, CPI candidate Annie Raja, by a margin of 3,64,422 votes. In the 2019 elections, he secured the seat with a record margin of 4.3 lakh votes.
Speaking at a public gathering in Malappuram, Gandhi, who also contested and won from the Raebareli seat in Uttar Pradesh, said, “I have a dilemma in front of me — Will I be a Member of Parliament of Wayanad or Raebareli?”
Rahul Gandhi further remarked, “For me, it’s much simpler. My God is the poor people of India. My God is the people of Wayanad. For me, it’s easy. I just talk to the people and my God tells me what to do. Back to the question of Wayanad or Rae Bareli, what I will commit to you is that both Wayanad and Rae Bareli will be happy with my decision.”
In 2019, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi won the Wayanad seat, securing his entry to the Lok Sabha by defeating Communist Party of India-Marxist candidate Annie Raja by 3,64,422 votes.
