On Wednesday, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of the Northeast Frontier Railway, conducted an inspection of the railway workshop at New Bongaigaon junction in Assam’s Bongaigaon. He also reviewed the ongoing development projects and railway facilities in the New Bongaigaon area. Accompanying him during the inspection were Neeraj Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager of Rangiya, along with senior officials from both the headquarters and division, according to a release from the Northeast Frontier Railway.
At the New Bongaigaon Workshop, he examined various facilities including the carriage repair shop, wagon repair shop, LHB component repair shop, LHB Bogie shop, Bearing shop, and the Train Lighting and Air Conditioning shop. He also assessed the ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving the maintenance of rolling stocks and discussed with officials the yard remodelling plans to enhance the marshalling of rolling stocks.
Subsequently, the general manager visited the supervisor’s training centre next to the workshop. He reviewed the different training modules being offered to trainees, who are essential for ensuring safe train operations. Additionally, he inspected the crew lobby at New Bongaigaon station to evaluate the facilities provided to Loco Pilots and Assistant Loco Pilots.
Later, the general manager conducted a review meeting with the workshop officials to discuss various developmental initiatives aimed at preparing the workshop for the rapid modernization of Indian Railways. His visit was intended to evaluate the progress of ongoing projects, assess the facilities at various sites, engage with officials, and deliberate on plans for infrastructural improvements. The railway noted that the general manager’s favourable assessment of the current work highlights the Northeast Frontier Railway’s dedication to enhancing the safety, efficiency, and comfort of passenger travel.
