The Indian government is set to introduce a new e-Aadhaar mobile application, enabling Aadhaar holders to update their personal information directly from their smartphones. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is set to launch a new e-Aadhaar mobile app by the end of 2025. The app will let users update key personal details such as their name, address, and date of birth directly through their smartphones. It will feature AI-based tools and Face ID authentication to ensure security, reducing the need for in-person visits. From November 2025, only biometric updates like fingerprints and iris scans will require a visit to an Aadhaar centre.
Convenient Updates Without Visiting Centres
Once launched, the app will provide a single, user-friendly platform to update essential details such as name, date of birth, and residential address. Users will no longer need to visit Aadhaar Seva Kendras for these changes. Physical enrolment centres will continue to be necessary only for biometric updates, including fingerprints and iris scans.
Officials say the app is designed to simplify the update process, reduce paperwork, prevent identity fraud, and offer faster and more convenient services to citizens. To Download your e-Aadhaar whenever you need it, click: myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/genricDownload

What additional document support will the app provide?
Along with its main features, UIDAI plans to enable the app to automatically pull verified information from government databases. This will cover documents like birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licences, ration cards under the Public Distribution System (PDS), and MNREGA records. Electricity bill details may also be included to make address verification faster and more convenient.
A Step Toward Digital Identity Management
With this initiative, the government aims to strengthen security and improve access to Aadhaar services. The e-Aadhaar app is expected to serve as a comprehensive digital solution for identity management, making it easier for citizens across India to manage and update their personal data securely.
About Aadhaar Good Governance Portal:
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has introduced the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal to make the approval process for Aadhaar authentication requests easier. The portal is built to improve efficiency and make Aadhaar services more user-friendly. By simplifying how authentication applications are submitted and cleared, it aims to boost accessibility and ensure broader inclusivity within the Aadhaar system.
