Samsung launches new curved gaming monitor Odyssey G9

Samsung on Wednesday launched a 49-inch curved gaming monitor called Odyssey G9. This is the world’s first Dual QHD gaming monitor, offering an industry-first, deep and immersive 1000R curvature. In South Korea, the Odyssey G9 is priced at 1.9 million won ($1,570). “The G9 now joins the portfolio as the first dual QHD gaming monitor with 1000R curvature. This further solidifies Samsung’s leadership in the global gaming monitor market, with innovation happening at an unprecedented rate,” said Hyesung Ha, Senior Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. The G9 is set to deliver a powerful combination of features under the hood, including rapid 1 milli-second response time with a 240Hz refresh rate and crystal clear QLED picture quality for gaming in dual QHD. The G 9 p u r s u e s an innovative and futuristic design with a glossy white exterior. The O d y s s e y G 9 houses Infinity Core Lighting, which allows 52 different colours and five lighting effect options behind the display. It is also the first monitor certified to support HRD10+, enabling it to deliver games and content in groundbreaking quality through a combination of Quantum dot technology and an HDR1000 panel.

Pre-book budget OnePlus TV, 2-year extended warranty ‘free’

OnePlus on Wednesday announced the availability of its new OnePlus TVs range for pre-book on Amazon.in. The group would expand its Smart TV portfolio in India with the launch of two new affordable sets via an online event on 2 July. To pre-book the new TV, for which prices would be announced on 2 July, one needs to purchase two-year extended warranty worth up to Rs 3,000 for just Rs 1,000 on Amazon.in between 23 June and 2 July. “An email confirmation will be shared on purchase. Purchase any of the new OnePlus TVs (2020 models) on Amazon before August 5,” the company said in a statement. After buying the OnePlus TV, all those who opted for two-year extended warranty will receive Amazon Pay balance of Rs 1,000 by 10 August. “This offer only applies to the new ranges of OnePlus TVs and on purchase on extended warranty and the OnePlus TV in the given date range,” said the company in a statement. The new affordable OnePlus TVs will feature an immersive, bezel-less display with a vibrant Cinematic Display, a 93 per cent ‘DCI-P3’ colour gamut and Dolby Vision support. The company entered the smart TV industry in 2019 with OnePlus TV Q1 series which is available at starting price of Rs 69,900.

HONOR 9A smartphone, MagicBook 14 laptop unveiled

Smartphone brand HONOR has unveiled HONOR 9A that is powered by a 5000mAh battery and claims to support up to 33 hours of 4G calls and up to 35 hours video playback and up to 37 hours of FM radio playback on single full charge. HONOR 9A (3GB+64GB) variant will be available at 149.9 euros from July. Its India availability will be announced later. The brand also announced a new HONOR MagicBook 14 (8GB+256 GB RAM) with special bundle of 12-month subscription to Microsoft 365 Personal. The HONOR MagicBook 14 will be available for pre-order in the UK, France and Germany for 649.9 euros, the company said in a statement. Weighing just 185g and featuring a thin bezel that is just 9.04mm, HONOR 9A features a triple rear camera set-up (13MP+5MP+2MP). The device has an 8MP front camera. Running on Android 10, it comes with the new Huawei App Gallery, giving users a dedicated ecosystem of apps and services.

Sony WH-CH710N: Affordable AI-driven noise cancelling headphones

Available for Rs 9,990 in India, the headphones are yet another addition to the affordable list of products from the Japanese tech giant. In terms of design, the headphones scores decent marks. It features the trademark Sony headset look. There is hardly any metal on this wearable. The ear cups are comfortable and one can easily enjoy music for 3 to 4 hours without any issue. The headphones are also quite light. The bottom edges of the earcups house all the buttons and ports. The left ear cup offers the power/pairing button, with the USB-C charging port and 3.5mm port. On the right, there is a volume rocker and the pause button. There is another button to switch on ambient sound and this also activates noise cancelling. The pause button on the long press brings up the voice assistant. The headset uses microphones on the outside to analyse and cancel out the ambient noise. One can also have noise-canceling either fully on or off
