On Friday morning, the newly elected MPs of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) arrived at Parliament for a meeting concerning cabinet formation prior to the swearing-in ceremony. BJP’s National General Secretary, Tarun Chugh, welcomed the new MPs at the Samvidhan Sadan. Attendees included Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Expressing his gratitude, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai remarked, “Gratitude and congratulations to the voters of the country. NDA is forming a government for the third consecutive time.” Author-philanthropist and Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty shared her thoughts, saying, “I am very new to this field. I don’t know this field. Maybe after a couple of years, I can talk about it.” During the event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath exchanged greetings with Sudha Murty.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, upon arriving at Parliament, stated, “I had already congratulated him (PM Modi) for his third term and the success of the NDA as the third term government.” Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, also present at the meeting, expressed, “We were able to win only one seat in Goa. I am sad that we could not win the other seat as well.”
Earlier in the week, NDA party leaders met and elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as their leader. PM Modi later affirmed that the NDA would work towards developing India. Sources indicate that Narendra Modi is expected to take the oath as Prime Minister for the third consecutive term on June 9, although the official date has yet to be confirmed.
The Election Commission of India announced on Tuesday that the BJP secured 240 seats, and with its allies, the total stands at 293 seats. Additionally, Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP and Nitish Kumar’s JDU, winning 16 and 12 seats respectively, have pledged their support to the NDA. The INDIA bloc holds 234 MPs in the new parliament, with the Congress securing 99 seats.
