The two alliance partners within the NDA in Bihar are at loggerheads again, with both the JD-U and the LJP attacking each other on tackling Covid-19 pandemic in the state. This time the war of words started subsequent to the observation of PM Narendra Modi on his interaction with the chief ministers of various states that testing for the novel coronavirus needs to be augmented in some states. The LJP was quick to lap up the opportunity and the same was tweeted by the LJP demanding that testing should increase in Bihar.
This tweet garnered sharp criticism from the JD-U with party MP Lallan Singh calling Chirag Paswan “Kalidas”. The obvious connotation was that Chirag was trying to sabotage this alliance. Singh also added that 83,000 tests per day are being carried in Bihar and that it will be increased to one lakh per day in couple of days. The adage of “Kalidas” however did not go down well with the LJP and the party reacted sharply by calling Lallan Singh “Surdas”. Party spokesperson Ashraf said, “Lallan Singh has become Surdas and has lost control on his speech. He should mind his words.”
Recently the LJP took a dig at the JD-U when the approach road of Sattarghat pul got washed away within 29 days of its inauguration. The LJP had also taken a dig at the JD-U on the issue of lawlessness bad roads and on the issue of contract teachers in the state.
Recently the BJP national president had made it very clear that the NDA is strong in the state and that both the JD-U and LJP are part of the alliance and that the party would be going to the forthcoming polls in the state with this alliance being intact. The BJP presidents’ words have failed to act as deterrent to the LJP or the JD-U and the two parties have never lost an opportunity in taking a dig at each other.
