Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu hailed the victory of US Vice President-elect JD Vance and his wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, in the 2024 US Presidential election as a historic and proud moment for the Telugu community worldwide. With JD Vance’s win, Usha Vance, whose family has roots in Andhra Pradesh, will become the first Indian-American Second Lady of the United States.
Calling Usha Vance’s elevation to this prestigious role a “moment of pride for Telugus,” Naidu highlighted her Telugu heritage. Usha’s ancestral village, Vadluru, is situated near Tanuku in West Godavari district, approximately 35 km from Bhimavaram. “Her ascent as America’s Second Lady is truly a matter of pride for the Telugu community globally,” Naidu shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Naidu extended his congratulations to JD Vance, saying, “I would also like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to JD Vance, on becoming the US Vice President-elect. His victory marks a historic moment, as Usha Vance, who has roots in Andhra Pradesh, will become the first woman of Telugu heritage to serve as the Second Lady of the US.”
Naidu further expressed hope that JD and Usha Vance will have the opportunity to visit Andhra Pradesh in the near future.
The Chief Minister also congratulated Donald Trump on his presidential victory, expressing confidence that Trump’s return to the White House would bolster the relationship between India and the United States. “I congratulate Donald Trump on his victory in the US Presidential Elections and wish him success as he prepares to lead his country forward. His first tenure marked significant strengthening of the Indo-US partnership,” Naidu wrote.
He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump, India and the United States would likely continue to foster greater cooperation across multiple domains, benefiting both nations.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader’s remarks highlight both pride in the Telugu heritage represented on the world stage and optimism for enhanced diplomatic ties between India and the United States.
