Tech-savvy Italian teenager Carlo Acutis has become the first millennial saint of the Catholic Church. Known as “God’s Influencer,” the UK-born prodigy dedicated his short life to spreading faith online.

Carlo Acutis passed away from leukemia at the age of 15 in 2006. He was beatified four years ago after the Vatican recognized a miraculous recovery of a boy who had touched Acutis’ t-shirt.

Who is Carlo Acutis?

Carlo Acutis, who passed away in 2006, gained popularity for using technology to promote religion. Born in London on May 3, 1991, Acutis later grew up in Milan. He managed his parish’s website and eventually worked with a Vatican-based academy.

Carlo’s Remains on Display at Church of Santa Maria Maggiore

Carlo’s remains are displayed in a tomb with a glass side at the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Assisi. He appears astonishingly lifelike, with his face reconstructed and body dressed in jeans, trainers, and a sweatshirt, as he lived.

The church has become a place of pilgrimage for many Catholics and was declared the site of the second miracle attributed to Carlo Acutis.
