Man Chooses Botox Over Skincare Routines: Better For ‘Frown Lines’, Watch Here

Injectable cosmetic treatments, once primarily associated with celebrities, have now become mainstream, with people from various walks of life turning to these procedures to maintain a youthful appearance. A notable trend is the growing number of men who are opting for Botox and other injectables, choosing them over traditional skincare creams and facials. This shift is supported by a 2023 study from London-based research firm Mintel, which found that 30% of men are interested in adding more skincare products to their routines, compared to 26% of women.

Injectables Gain Popularity Among Men

An example of this trend is a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from Bengaluru, who prefers injectables to address fine lines and wrinkles. In an interview with The Nod Mag, the 37-year-old executive, who chose to remain anonymous, discussed his experience with Botox, which he first tried in 2022. “Look at the numbers. A facial for monthly upkeep at a good salon costs you at least ₹5,000, but I get my frown lines lightened every year for ₹8,000. I’m actually winning,” he shared.

His treatment plan includes Botox injections to soften crow’s feet around his eyes and smooth the frown lines between his brows. In addition to Botox, many men are opting for other injectable treatments such as fillers to enhance the lips and chin, Botox for a more defined jawline, and non-surgical body contouring to improve muscle definition and reduce fat.

Extreme Use of Injectables: The Case of Fetisch Barbie

While most people use Botox and fillers subtly to enhance their appearance, there are cases where individuals take these treatments to the extreme. One such example is an Austrian woman, known by her social media name, Fetisch Barbie, who admits to being addicted to Botox and fillers. Her extreme use of injectables has resulted in exaggeratedly plump lips and sharply defined cheekbones.

In an appearance on the show Hooked On, Fetisch Barbie shared that she has undergone multiple filler treatments in her cheeks, chin, nose, and lips, as well as Botox across her face to maintain a wrinkle-free complexion. Despite having lips three times the size of the average person’s, she expressed her desire to “go bigger.” “I am addicted to filler and Botox 100%,” she admitted.

The Cost of Cosmetic Obsession

To maintain her extreme appearance, Fetisch Barbie gets fillers every three months. Over the years, she has reportedly spent around £50,000 (approximately ₹52 lakh) on Botox and fillers. Despite the high costs and dramatic results, she remains committed to her cosmetic regimen, embodying the extreme end of the spectrum in the growing popularity of injectables.

As more people, especially men, embrace cosmetic treatments, the use of Botox and fillers continues to evolve, ranging from subtle enhancements to more dramatic transformations.
