Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended greetings . Taking to Twitter, PM Modi tweeted, “Greetings on the sacred occasion of Ashadha Purnima. We recall the noble teachings of Lord Buddha and reiterate our commitment to realise his enlightened vision of a just and compassionate society.”
Notably, Guru Purnima is celebrated on a full moon day, which falls in the month of Ashadha. It is also known as ‘Vyasa Purnima’ as it marks the birth anniversary of ‘Ved Vyasa’, the Mahabharata author. People also express their gratitude to the teachers and gurus.
