Ludhiana: Salem Tabri Residents Protest Against PSPCL After 5 Days Without Power

Residents from streets 3, 4, and 5 in New Ashok Nagar, Salem Tabri, stood on a dharna for more than four hours today to protest the PSPCL’s lethargic approach, since the region has been without electricity for five days. Residents complained that the PSPCL had neglected to restore power for the last five days in the region.

Gurdev Singh, a local resident, stated that he was a laborer and that inhabitants in the region were suffering due to a lack of power in this hot and humid climate. “How can officials be so callous?” If it had been in a fancy neighborhood or VIP location, the power would have been restored after some time. But here, we all come from low families, which is why little attention is paid to our suffering,” he explained.

Another homeowner, Hardeep Singh, stated that children were unable to attend school since there was no water accessible. “We don’t have any water to cook or drink.” How can we ask our children to go to school when they haven’t bathed in two or three days? “We can’t use pumps to get water because there is no power,” he stated.

The villagers stated that they had attempted to visit the office of local MLA Madan Lal Bagga, but were unsuccessful.

“The MLA has promised to fix the situation as quickly as possible, but it has yet to be solved. We are staying in a miserable condition.” Another person stated.

More than 200 people from the impacted areas went on a dharna to protest the department’s failure to address the issue. Residents stated it was impossible for them, particularly little children, to stay at home without electricity in the current humid weather conditions. They also said that without electricity and water, housewives are having difficulty cooking and other home duties.

Meanwhile, numerous areas of the city have experienced inconsistent power supplies. Residents of HIG Flats in Ghumar Mandi also reported that there was no electricity in their neighborhood for more than three hours owing to a malfunction in power connections. Annu, a housewife, stated that the need for power has been increasing in recent months. “The authorities should look into the subject throughout the remainder of the year and permanently resolve it so that homeowners are not inconvenienced during these months. “Life becomes miserable without power in such humid weather,” she explained.
