J & K’s Baramulla candidate and Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) vice-president, Omar Abdullah concedes defeat and congratulates engineer Abdul Rashid for his likely win.
Taking to X, Omar Abdullah said, ‘I think it’s time to accept the inevitable. Congratulations to Engineer Rashid for his victory in North Kashmir. I don’t believe his victory will hasten his release from prison nor will the people of North Kashmir get the representation they have a right to but the voters have spoken and in a democracy that’s all that matters.”

Earlier, he expressed faith in his party winning all the three seats.
‘I have faith that JKNC will win all three seats. Exit poll predictions will be proven wrong. I hope exit polls prove to be right for J-K and wrong for the rest of the country…’
Meanwhile former J &K CM Mehbooba Mufti is trailing behind in the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency.
In the previous 2019 Lok sabha election, BJP had fielded six candidates but did not secure victory in any seats in the Kashmir region.
This General election, stringent security measures have been put in place to guarantee the seamless counting of votes for over 8,000 candidates.
Earlier, chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar, had declared, that a ‘very robust system’ has been established.
‘There are around 10.5 lakh booths. Each booth will have 14 tables. There are observers and micro-observers. Nearly, 70-80 lakh people are involved in the process.’ said CEC chief.
In addition to the counting of Lok Sabha election results, the results of assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, as well as the outcomes of bypolls in 25 Assembly constituencies, will also be announced today.
