Kim Kardashian made a striking impression at the recent LACMA Art+Film Gala, not only for her attire but also for how she styled it. She donned a custom white Gucci gown featuring a deep plunging neckline. While the silhouette was familiar, it was her choice of accessories that ignited conversations.
Kardashian wore the historical Atallah Cross Necklace, an amethyst crucifix pendant previously worn by Princess Diana. This stunning piece is adorned with square-cut amethysts and set in diamonds, hanging from a string of pearls. Unlike Diana, who wore it long, Kim layered the necklace to shorten its length, pairing it with a pearl choker from Tallarico and a diamond and pearl necklace from Bulgari. She also added a long white trench coat draped over her arms, but the cross pendant remained the standout feature of her ensemble.
Kim made headlines last year when she acquired this rare piece of jewelry for $197,453 at auction, equivalent to approximately Rs. 1,66,04,242.28 after conversion. It seems she was waiting for the perfect occasion to showcase this iconic purchase.
Princess Diana previously wore the necklace at a charity gala in 1987 over a deep purple velvet gown, and it has not been seen publicly since her passing.
In 2022, Kim Kardashian also made waves at the Met Gala by wearing the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe donned to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy. The dress was loaned to her by Ripley’s Believe It or Not, and she returned it in its original condition after the event, wearing a replica for the rest of the evening.
