J&K News: Pakistani Intruder Shot Dead By BSF In Samba District

Samba August, 1: In a significant development, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt on the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district. A Pakistani intruder was shot dead by BSF troops near the Khora post late Wednesday, officials reported on Thursday.

According to the BSF, the vigilant troops detected suspicious movement across the IB in the Samba border area during the night of July 31 to August 1, 2024. The intruder, who was approaching the BSF fence, was neutralized after ignoring repeated warnings from the personnel.

“In the intervening night of 31 July/01 Aug 2024, the vigilant BSF troops observed a suspicious movement across the IB in the Samba border area. An intruder was observed approaching toward the BSF fence, the alert troops neutralised the intruder & thwarted the infiltration attempt,” the BSF stated.

Senior BSF and police officials promptly reached the incident site, and efforts to retrieve the body commenced. IG BSF, Jammu Frontier, DK Boora, while speaking to media said, “Around 10:15 PM yesterday, our forward duty points observed some movement where a person was trying to intrude through IB from the Pakistan side. When he entered our territory, he was challenged, and when he tried to flee, he was neutralized by our troops. This attempt was likely made to probe for potential gaps… It serves as a lesson that no one can step into India’s territory with ill intentions. If someone dares so, he will meet a similar fate.”

In response to intelligence reports indicating that a group of 40-50 foreign mercenaries were planning such attacks, the Security forces have already started deploying highly trained soldiers. These soldiers, drawn from the elite commando force and trained in mountain warfare, have been stationed in the Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Reasi, and Udhampur districts of the Jammu division.

Security forces are conducting intelligence-based cordon and search operations in these districts almost daily to hunt down hiding terrorists and prevent further infiltration attempts.
