IndiGo Flight Forced Into Emergency Landing In Mumbai After Bomb Threat; Passengers Safely Evacuated

An IndiGo flight from Chennai carrying 172 passengers and crew made an emergency landing on Saturday morning due to a bomb threat, according to PTI sources. The airline issued a statement indicating that the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines. All passengers disembarked safely.

“Full emergency was declared for IndiGo flight 6E5314, operating on the Chennai-Mumbai route on Saturday after the pilot informed the Mumbai ATC of an alleged bomb threat to the aircraft,” the report quoted a source as saying.

The air carrier confirmed the alleged bomb threat on its Chennai-Mumbai flight. In a statement, the airline said, “Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines.” It added that all passengers have safely disembarked and the aircraft is currently undergoing inspection.

“Post completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area,” it added.

This is the second such incident involving an IndiGo flight in the past week. On Tuesday, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Varanasi received an alleged bomb threat.

In another incident on May 31, Vistara Airlines received a bomb threat for a flight from Delhi to Srinagar with 177 passengers and an infant. Following the threat, swift action was taken by the airline and security forces. Flight UK-611, which departed from Delhi, landed safely at Srinagar Airport at approximately 12:10 AM.
