Indian-Origin Woman Purchases House Where Matthew Perry Died, Performs ‘Puja’

Anita Lallian, a real estate developer and film producer of Indian descent, has recently purchased Matthew Perry’s luxurious Pacific Palisades home for $8.55 million. While the property offers stunning ocean views and high-end features, Lallian’s decision to buy the house goes beyond its aesthetics. She is dedicated to honoring Perry’s legacy and ensuring his spirit lives on in the home.

In an Instagram post, Lallian expressed her deep affection for the house, emphasizing that her purchase was motivated by a love for the property, not its tragic past. “We knew it was ‘the one’ and decided to write an offer on it immediately,” she shared. “The moment I walked into the home, I absolutely fell in love with the features, especially the view of the Pacific Ocean.”

‘Puja’ for Home

As a Hindu, Lallian believes in performing a prayer ceremony, or ‘puja,’ when acquiring a new home. She invited her Panditji from Arizona to conduct the blessing, ensuring the home was filled with positive energy. “We were so lucky to have our Panditji from Arizona come to the house to do the blessing,” she noted.

Lallian also plans to preserve certain elements of the house, such as the iconic Batman logo in the pool, which was part of Perry’s design. “We chose to honor the positive aspects of the previous owner’s life, his immense talent, and all the joy he brought to so many people. The Batman logo in the pool is staying,” she said.

The Home’s Legacy

Built in 1965, the 3,500-square-foot home features four bedrooms, expansive glass walls, and a stunning view of the Pacific. Perry had purchased the property in 2020 for $6 million. His sudden death last October at the age of 54 shocked the entertainment world. Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing in Friends, was found unresponsive in the hot tub, and the official cause of death was ruled as the effects of ketamine combined with accidental drowning.

Despite the tragic events tied to the property, Lallian’s purchase reflects her respect for Perry’s legacy and the home’s unique history.
