Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], July 2 (ANI): In a major crackdown on institutional malpractices, Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Public Works and Sports Development, Aadhav Arjuna, on Wednesday issued an important official announcement inviting victims of corruption under previous regimes to come forward and lodge direct complaints.
As seen in the official letter dated July 1, 2026, from the Secretariat in Chennai, the minister reaffirmed the current administration’s commitment to delivering an honest, transparent people’s government while actively rectifying the illegal actions of past rulers.
The official communication highlighted systemic corruption that previously plagued the Public Works and Highways Department.
According to the document, past administrations engaged in systematically planned rule violations and fixed bribe amounts across public infrastructure projects. Individuals previously in power, alongside their family members and close associates, allegedly extracted massive sums of money from contractors by promising public works contracts.
After taking the money, these powerful figures failed to allocate the promised projects, leaving numerous contractors deceived and financially devastated.
Minister Aadhav Arjuna noted that his office is already receiving a surge of complaints regarding these past malpractices. To facilitate justice, the ministry has established secure direct channels for affected individuals and cheated contractors to report their grievances safely.
Affected parties can lodge complaints directly with the Minister, report to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), or submit their grievances electronically via the dedicated email address: minister.pwd.hd.tn@gmail.com.
The minister assured citizens that the identity and details of all complainants will be strictly protected, and the government will provide necessary legal safeguards. Furthermore, the administration has pledged to initiate prompt legal proceedings to help victims recover the money they lost to past corrupt practices.
Looking ahead, the announcement firmly states that such malpractices will have no place in the future of the state’s infrastructure development. Moving forward, all public works and highways contracts will be handled with absolute honesty, accountability, and total transparency. (ANI)
